Louisiana Tech's NCAA tournament drought continues after CUSA loss
Louisiana Tech basketball's NCAA Tournament drought will last at least one more year. The Bulldogs lost 71-60 in the Conference USA Championship game to the Kennesaw State Owls on Saturday, March 14.
The first half was a competitive one, despite the Bulldogs' quiet offense. In the opening period, Louisiana Tech (20-14) shot just 37.1% from the floor, with much of that due to poor 3-point shooting. The Bulldogs missed all 12 of their attempts from beyond the arc, but their defense held its own and allowed only a one-possession deficit at the break. In the first half, neither team led by more than four points.
In the second half, things began to slip away. Louisiana Tech never led in the final 24:48 of game time, but still managed to keep things respectable in the early stages of the period. By the later portion, though, the Owls (21-13) began to stretch their lead, taking their first double-digit lead with under four minutes left and never relinquishing it.
