With Lane Kiffin exiting Ole Miss for the LSU football program, the head coach has been bringing in some talented players in the hopes of bringing a championship back to Baton Rouge. As the LSU football team looks to have success with Kiffin, one of the players who transferred to the school that's looking to bring an impact is quarterback Sam Leavitt , though he is suffering from a foot injury.
Coming from the Arizona State Sun Devils, Leavitt is nursing a foot injury, though Kiffin would say Tuesday that "he's set to be ready for summer camp," and he is reaching good speeds.
"Lane Kiffin said that quarterback transfer Sam Leavitt ran 21 MPH on the GPS the other day as he recovers from a foot injury. He's set to be ready for summer camp," Thamel wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
The hype around Leavitt is real, as, besides Kiffin being a noted quarterback whisperer, he showed flashes with Arizona State, which is why Paul Finebaum believes he's the more impactful newcomer over Auburn's Byron Brown, coming from USF.
"It's Leavitt because he's on a potential national championship team," Finebaum said Tuesday, via On3 Sports. "Brown and his team would be happy to make a bowl game, which they haven't had a winning record in six years. So I think Leavitt has a lot of pressure on him, and he was also the biggest find in the portal. And Lane Kiffin is a quarterback whisperer, and I expect them to make the Playoffs with Leavitt under center."
At any rate, it remains to be seen when Leavitt officially comes back with the LSU football program and how impactful he'll be under Kiffin.
