When the LSU Tigers added wide receiver Jackson Harris out of the transfer portal this offseason, it sort of flew under the radar among a ton of moves at the position. Now, a few weeks into the season, he has made it clear that people should have been paying more attention.
Those around Baton Rouge did get excited pretty quickly. After looking into the player and seeing what he was able to do at Hawai'i last year, it was clear what level of potential he carried. He just didn't have the biggest name and wasn't a recruiting standout.
The 247Sports Transfer Rankings had him as the 25th-best wide receiver in the portal. He was the third-highest-ranked incoming Tigers receiver and has clearly become the top option out wide. Only a handful of those above him have out-produced him, as Harris has been one of the best in the country.
Harris now has 36 catches for 634 yards and seven touchdowns (leading the SEC). Most of that production came after Trey'Dez Green went down and LSU needed one of their receivers to step up. Harris was that guy, as he had six catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns.
The wideout is a big-play machine, which tracks with the breakout season that he had with Hawai'i in 2025. He had 49 catches for 963 yards and 12 touchdowns. That is an absurd 19.7 yards per catch. When looking at his 2026 as a whole, he's on pace to have pretty much the same year. Considering how much his role has increased recently, though, and the fact that the Tigers are at least bowl-eligible, he should end up surpassing that with ease.
Many LSU fans have gotten excited about his future, given that he has another year of eligibility. The thing is, though, he is performing so well that NFL scouts have taken notice , and now it looks like he could end up as a potential Day 1 draft pick.
At 6-foot-2, he has a great level of athleticism and has shown to be a pretty well-rounded wide receiver. He isn't just tall and fast; he creates a ton of separation with his route running and uses his body well to come through with contested catches. It wouldn't be surprising if he becomes one of the first players taken at the position after the NFL Combine. There is a lot there for NFL teams to like.
