Hankelow (1.25) is backed to land Group 3 honours at Haydock
Today's ITV Racing coverage features nine live contests, headlined by Haydock's Group 1 Sprint Cup at 3.40, in which Almeraq will look to record a second top-level success of the season.
I have picked out a Lucky 15 for today's racing, featuring two selections from Haydock and one apiece from Ascot and Kempton. Take a look at my best bets and analysis below.

Pick 1 – Hankelow (1.25 Haydock)
It is easy to forgive Hankelow's last two runs, as a blatant non-stayer in the Prix du Jockey Club and the Strensall Stakes, run over 1m 2½f and 1m 1f respectively.

Previously, he had finished third in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains – the French 2,000 Guineas – on his first start of the season. That came on ground described as "very soft", so the heavy ground he will encounter today should be no problem.
Karl Burke's runner was just a nose away from maintaining an unbeaten record as a juvenile. His first campaign ended with victory in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket last October.
To say he has not lived up to expectations this season is probably an understatement, but he could bounce back today as he returns to the mile trip that we know suits him perfectly. This does not look like the strongest Group 3 in the world, so he must have every chance.
Pick 2 – Addison Grey (1.40 Ascot)
Addison Greydid me a favour when tipped on these pages at Newbury last month, winning by a length and a half on his first outing over seven furlongs.

The Havana Grey gelding was raised only 3lb for that success and he could still have more to offer over this trip.
As I mentioned when I tipped Addison Grey last time, he had threatened to turn into a potential Group horse this season but went off the boil slightly. I still think that a mark of 97 underestimates his ability but I am not completely sure how much higher his ceiling is.
Still, Clive Cox's runner must have as good a chance as anything else in this Class 2 handicap, and I am sticking with him to bring up the double.
It is worth noting that, despite the ground being heavy at Haydock, it is currently described as "good, good to firm in places" at Ascot. So, there is no need to look for mudlarks here, unlike at the Merseyside track.

Pick 3 – Pride Of Arras (2.50 Kempton)
Can Constitution Hill take the step up to Group 3 company in his stride? Like my colleague Ron Wood, I am not convinced, and I personally think it will be a miracle if he finishes in the top three, as he has an awful lot to find at the weights.
The September Stakes has attracted a seriously good field and it is arguably a more intriguing race than the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock.
I will go against the favourite, Gethin, and take a chance on Pride Of Arras, whose second behind subsequent Juddmonte International winner Item now reads very well.
This four-year-old is not the most consistent by any stretch of the imagination – he has finished last on two occasions in his eight-race career – but Pride Of Arras has previously shown a high level of ability.

He scored very impressively over this trip in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at the 2025 Ebor Festival, but has failed to win since.
Ralph Beckett's gelding has only 3lb to find with the top-rated Gethin, and if he is on a going day, he should not be far away.
Pick 4 – Aegean Prince (3.05 Haydock)
I am returning to Haydock for the final leg of my Lucky 15, with Godolphin's Aegean Princetaken to land the Old Borough Cup over 1m 6f.
Despite being a four-year-old, the Dubawi gelding has appeared on a racecourse only four times. He has won two of those, including an eight-length victory at Ascot on his first start of 2025.

Aegean Prince went on to finish second in a Listed race at Deauville over an extended 1m 4f on very soft ground, so he should relish the Merseyside mud.
Charlie Appleby's runner makes his handicap debut against some seasoned campaigners, but he retains plenty of potential and is firmly unexposed. He has already proven he can compete in Pattern company, which I expect him to return to if he can secure another success today.
