On Friday, the Cleveland Cavaliers look to muster up the same courage they showed in Game 5 to close out the Eastern Conference Semifinals at home in Game 6 against the Detroit Pistons . Some of it has to do with skill, some with will, and some with luck.
Speaking of luck, one Cavs fan will go home happy , win or lose, after sinking a half-court shot that won him $10,000, per NBA TV. Before a hyped up crowd at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, the fan shot it with both hands and swished it.
This comes a day after Cavs owner Dan Gilbert treated fans n icely with a bus ride, food, and tickets to the game. Keeping the fans involved, engaged, and motivated has been key.
Also, this isn’t the first time a fan has gotten this fortunate. Over the past few years, Cavs fans have gone viral for achieving this feat.
In February 2025 , a fan hit a half-court shot after winning a game of rock, paper, scissors. He won $10,000 during a Cavs game against the Houston Rockets . This January, high school basketball standout Jason Singleton of Columbus Academy won the big prize .
Cleveland is known for its resilience, in keeping with Midwest sensibilities of hard work. That was especially true during the LeBron James years. From the time he left for the Miami Heat to his return and winning the title in 2016, the fans stuck through.
Meanwhile, the Cavs are one game away from making the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 2018.
