The San Jose Sharks regained relevance this season, and while they fell short of making the playoffs, they have plenty to look forward to in the future thanks to Macklin Celebrini . The 19-year-old forward has had a historic second season and looks like someone who will be a superstar in the league for years to come.

On Thursday night, in San Jose's season finale against the Winnipeg Jets, Celebrini broke another Sharks record. He notched his 115th point of the season, passing franchise legend Joe Thornton for the most in a single season in franchise history, according to Frank Seravalli.
Celebrini put up another stellar game to close out an incredible second season, posting a goal and a pair of assists in a 6-1 win over the Jets.
The superstar teenager finishes his second NHL season with 45 goals and 70 assists after playing all 82 games and will enter the 2026-27 season as one of the favorites to win the Hart Trophy as the MVP. It will take some team improvement from the Sharks in order to get Celebrini that kind of accolade, but he is already on that level as an individual.
He proved that this season not only at the NHL level, but also in the Paris Olympics for Team Canada back in February. During that tournament, Celebrini played on the first line on a stacked Canada team alongside Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon. He was a big reason why Canada got all the way to the end before settling for the Silver Medal after an epic Gold Medal Game against the United States.

After a dreadful stretch over the last couple of seasons, the Sharks contended for a playoff spot for much of the season before faltering near the end of the year. In the end, San Jose finished with a 39-35-8 record, finishing just four points out of the wild card. With Celebrini and the rest of the roster improving, the Sharks should be aiming for the postseason in 2027.
