- “It Made Me Feel Sad for Him”: Patriots LB Doubles Down on Tom Brady Criticism Over Patriots Super Bowl Comments

Tom Brady 's decision to remain neutral during the New England Patriots ' Super Bowl appearance is still being criticized.
Patriots linebacker Robert Spillane once again criticized the franchise legend for refusing to publicly root for New England , saying Brady's comments left him disappointed despite everything he accomplished during his 20-year run with the team.
Speaking about Brady's stance, Spillane admitted it was something he still hasn't moved past.
"It irritated me, and it made me feel sad for him," Spillane said.
Spillane joined New England before their Super Bowl LX run and expected the franchise's legend to support his former team. Instead, Brady chose not to pick a side.
"Spending 20 years here obviously went on to do amazing, great things not only on the football field but in the community, and to say that he had no care in the world. It irritated me. It made me feel sad for him, but at the end of the day, that was just my personal opinion. Everyone else has their own opinions in the locker room," he added.
This isn't the first time Spillane publicly questioned Brady's decision. On February 5 in front of the media, he said Brady's neutrality during the Super Bowl "personally makes me sick," making it clear that his feelings hadn't changed months later.
Brady's comments drew attention because of what he said during his Patriots Hall of Fame ceremony in 2024.
"I am Tom Brady, and I am a Patriot," Brady declared during that ceremony.
Less than two years later, however, he declined to publicly root for New England in the Super Bowl.
Brady has had reasons for staying neutral since retiring, as he now serves as Fox's lead NFL analyst while also holding a minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders .
Former Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette spoke about Brady's Super Bowl LV pregame speech on Wednesday, calling it the greatest motivational speech he has ever heard.
"Listen, the best piece of the day I've ever heard," Fournette said. "I've heard the Martin Luther King speech, the Malcolm X speech, but that was probably the best piece ever."
Fournette even admitted the speech nearly brought him to tears.
"I almost cried," he said.
Fournette also said Brady reinforced confidence throughout the week, texting teammates every night with one message: "We will win this game."
And that approach finally worked.
Tampa Bay dominated the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV, with Brady throwing for three touchdowns and earning Super Bowl MVP honors.
