The Orlando Magic suffered an embarrassing defeat in Game 6 of their NBA Playoffs series with the Detroit Pistons on Friday. Orlando imploded in the second half, allowing the Pistons to storm back from a 22-point halftime deficit and win the game.
Despite that disappointing result, there was one special moment in the game for Magic guard Anthony Black . Black got to share that moment with his former teammate Kentavious Caldwell-Pope .
“Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is sitting in the front row across from the Pistons’ bench. When Anthony Black sank a left-corner 3 to extend Orlando’s lead to 70-54, Black pointed at KCP in celebration, and KCP pointed back at Black, a smile on his face,” The Athletic’s Josh Robbins posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Caldwell-Pope is no longer with the Magic. He played the 2025-26 season with the Memphis Grizzlies . He was still in attendance Friday to cheer on his former team.
The Magic scored just eight points in the fourth quarter of Friday’s game. Orlando had a total of just 19 second half points, in one of the most bizarre defeats in NBA Playoffs history.
“They (Orlando) shot 4 for 37 in the second half, setting the worst field goal percentage in any regular-season or playoff half with at least 35 attempts in the play-by-play era (since 1997-98) according to ESPN Research. They shot an abysmal 1-for-20 in the fourth quarter,” ESPN reported.
Orlando has now lost back-to-back games in the series after building a 3-1 series lead.
“Just keep everybody together,” said Magic star Paolo Banchero . “The series [isn’t] over. They clawed their way to tie it up 3-3. We won a game there to start the series. We’ve just got to do it again.”
The pivotal Game 7 is on Sunday afternoon.
