Former San Francisco 49ers third-round pick Jake Moody may be back on an NFL field very soon.
The Baltimore Ravens signed Moody to their practice squad on October 19 and he's now in line to make his way onto the game day roster after kicker Tyler Loop suffered a groin injury that landed him on IR on Tuesday.
It's unclear whether Moody will be promoted to the active roster or if he'll be up with Baltimore as a weekly practice squad elevation.
This marks Moody's third stint with Baltimore this year, but only his first opportunity to kick for the team. He signed with Baltimore's practice squad the day after final cuts after being beat out for the Washington Commanders starting job. He was let go two weeks later and remained a free agent before rejoining Baltimore in mid-October.
Moody's had a tumultuous career since being let go by the 49ers after one game last season. He kicked for the Chicago Bears and made eight-of-nine kicks, and then was with Washington for six games where he connected on 10-of-11 field goals.
Since joining the NFL as the No. 99 overall pick by the 49ers in the 2023 draft, Moody has hit 64-of-82 field goals, good for a FG% of 78.0. That mark is the 10th lowest among kickers with at least 80 field goal attempts since 2000.
