The Miami Dolphins made several important changes during the 2026 offseason. Miami hired Jeff Hafley at head coach and added a new starting quarterback in Malik Willis . The young quarterback is already making Miami’s coaching staff forget about Tua Tagovailoa .
Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik heaped praise on his quarterback during a recent interview.
“Really talented individual. Can spin the ball all over the field, throw the ball everywhere. Can run obviously, can use his legs. He’s tough. But honestly what I’ve enjoyed the most so far is getting to know him,” Slowik said on Tuesday per Dolphins reporter David Furones. “The person is really fun to be around, really energetic. He infuses everybody with a lot of energy, just makes you want to be involved in whatever he’s doing.”
Slowik was Miami’s senior passing game coordinator in 2025 before being promoted to offensive coordinator. He certainly seems to be excited to have Willis on the team.
Slowik also shared some minor details about what Miami’s offensive scheme could look like in 2026. However, he did not that most of the team’s focus in May is on fundamentals more than installing his scheme.
“He’s been fun to coach,” Slowik added. “We’ve had great conversations when we’ve been in the meeting room kind of going through some scheme… He’s all about what we’re doing. It’s very similar to what he did in Green Bay. And we’re just having a lot of fun right now, it’s a fun room.”
It will be exciting to see how well Willis plays during a full 17-game season as a starter in Miami.
Dolphins fans are probably excited to see him square off against Tagovailoa and the Falcons as well.
