Manchester City are already planning for a future without Pep Guardiola, with reports suggesting the club has narrowed down a shortlist of potential successors as uncertainty grows around the Spaniard's long-term plans.
Guardiola remains central to City's dominance, but there is increasing belief within the game that the current campaign could mark the final chapter of his reign at the Etihad.

According to a report from The Telegraph , Xabi Alonso is one of three managers Manchester City are seriously considering as a potential successor.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder has rapidly enhanced his reputation as a coach, earning admiration for his tactical clarity and calm authority.
City's interest reflects a broader trend of elite clubs monitoring Alonso as one of the standout managerial prospects in Europe.
His understanding of positional play and ability to implement structured attacking football are seen as traits that align closely with City's identity.
Alonso is not the only name under discussion as former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is also understood to be on City's shortlist, having previously worked within Guardiola's coaching ecosystem.
Maresca's familiarity with City's internal standards and tactical principles is viewed as a significant advantage.
Completing the trio is Cesc Fabregas, whose transition into management has attracted attention despite his relative inexperience. City are believed to value his football intelligence, leadership qualities, and deep understanding of elite dressing rooms.
The presence of both Maresca and Fabregas suggests City are weighing continuity against long-term vision. Guardiola has not publicly confirmed his departure plans.
However, City's decision to identify candidates early underlines how seriously the club is treating succession planning.
Replacing Guardiola would be one of the most significant decisions in modern football and City appear determined to be ready if that moment arrives.
