As reported by Calciomercato , Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez may be on the market as early as January.
The Argentina international has been in the news recently because of his comments after the Atlético Madrid defeat, through which he called out the Man United hierarchy for a poor transfer market outing in the summer that has left the squad shirt-staffed at the back.
His outburst has also put his performances under further scrutiny, and they have left a lot to be desired amid United's horrendous start to the season.
With his contract running out next summer, the 28-year-old may very well be positioning himself for a move away from Old Trafford. As things stand, he could speak to clubs in January regarding a free move next summer. While United have the option to extend his contract, his recent comments may push the club to cash in on him while they can, making January their earliest and arguably best opportunity to do so.
Despite his underwhelming performances this season, Martínez's suitors have clearly taken the mitigating circumstances into account, for he is not short of interest. In Serie A alone, he is being tracked by Inter, Como, and Roma, while in LaLiga both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are monitoring his situation closely.
