Manchester United Weigh Alexander Sorloth Move as £30m Striker Offer Lands
Manchester United have been sounded out over a possible move for Alexander Sorloth, with the Atletico Madrid forward understood to be available for around £30m. According to Caught Offside , intermediaries have approached United as the market continues to throw up late-window opportunities, and there is currently no definitive yes or no from Old Trafford.

The detail here is important. Sorloth is not agitating to leave Atletico Madrid, yet he is believed to be open to the right move. Newcastle United and Juventus have also been mentioned among the clubs made aware of his situation, which suggests this is a developing market rather than an advanced negotiation.
Alexander Sorloth Emerges as Manchester United Option
United are not thought to have reached a final decision, but there is a growing sense that Michael Carrick could still want another centre-forward before the window shuts. As one source put it, "Alexander Sorloth has been offered to Manchester United, and, as of yet, they have not ruled out a move." That line feels significant. It does not indicate a deal is close, but it does show the door remains open.

There is also a financial question to resolve. The same source added, "Other clubs could be there too, so United need to decide fast. As things stand, I'm not sure they'd pay the £30m asking price, but they might try to negotiate a loan." Atletico would almost certainly prefer a permanent sale given Sorloth has two years left on his contract, and that may shape whether this gathers momentum.
Transfer Decision Hinges on Squad Depth
From a football perspective, Sorloth offers something different. At 6 ft 5 in, he is a physical presence, strong in duels and capable of giving defenders a difficult afternoon. He may not be the glamour name many supporters crave, but Premier League squads need profile variety, and United are currently a little light behind Benjamin Sesko .
That said, any serious move may depend on departures. Joshua Zirkzee 's future looks particularly relevant, with interest from Serie A and a feeling that a permanent exit would make the arithmetic easier. A loan departure would leave more uncertainty around budget and squad planning.

Our View
From a Manchester United fan perspective, this is one of those links that creates more intrigue than excitement, at least initially. Sorloth is probably not the marquee striker many supporters imagined, but there is a logic to it if the club are genuinely looking for a reliable alternative option. United have lacked depth, presence and a different kind of threat in too many matches, and a forward with his size and experience could help in specific games.
The concern is value. £30m for a 30-year-old squad option feels high unless the club are convinced he can make an instant impact. If the deal became a loan, or a lower guaranteed fee, it would look far more sensible. Supporters have seen too many transfer windows where United drift into expensive short-term decisions, so caution here would be understandable.
There is also the Zirkzee angle. If United can move him on permanently and recycle funds into a striker better suited to the manager's needs, that is easier to understand. If not, adding another forward without trimming the squad could create another imbalance. Overall, this feels like a conversation worth having rather than a move to rush. Sorloth may not transform the attack, but as a late-market solution, there is enough here to keep an open mind.
