With rosters expanding to 28 today, Sept. 1, the Mariners have officially called up outfielder Lazaro Montes and left-handed pitcher Hoby Milner from the Tacoma Rainiers.
The 21-year-old Montes currently has a .249 batting average, with nearly 100 runs and 38 home runs. Montes is also second in home runs in the minor leagues, according to the Mariners .
Montes will make his MLB debut this afternoon, as the Mariners take on the Boston Red Sox at 3:45.
Hoby Milner, an MLB veteran who was picked up by the Mariners yesterday, Aug. 31, was also called up.
The 35-year-old was released by the Chicago Cubs Sunday, Aug. 30, after pitching in 38 games for them this season.
Milner racked up a 3.53 ERA, with 9 walks and 18 strikeouts, during his tenure with the Cubs.
In exchange for Montes and Milner, the Mariners marked Connor Joe and Nolan Kingham for assignment.
