As the Miami Marlins look to end a season-high nine-game losing streak, manager Clayton McCullough shared an injury update on All-Star right-hander Max Meyer during his media availability in the dugout at loanDepot park on Friday before the start of the club's six-game, six-day homestand.
The Marlins announced they would shut Meyer down from throwing for two weeks before evaluating the next steps in his recovery.

"With the further testing he got done, nothing new showed up," McCullough said.
McCullough said prior to the Marlins' 8-5 loss to the Houston Astros on Monday night at Daikin Park that Meyer first felt the issue in his start on July 7 against the Mariners .
The Marlins skipped his last scheduled start before the All-Star break on July 12, and he didn't pitch in the All-Star game in Philadelphia .
He experienced discomfort in his neck during his previous start on July 18 against the Milwaukee Brewers and exited after three innings.
Meyer then traveled to Los Angeles to see a specialist for further evaluation and was placed on the injured list July 20, retroactive to July 19, with a neck strain.

Meyer has endured an injury in each of the past five seasons, including a right UCL tear in 2022 that required season-ending Tommy John surgery.
The injury also kept Meyer out for most of the 2023 season.
After returning from Tommy John surgery and rejoining Miami's rotation, Meyer was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder bursitis.
He returned before the end of the season in 2024.
Last season, Meyer landed on the 15-day injured list with a left hip impingement on June 3 and was later transferred to the 60-day IL on July 1, causing him to miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign.

Despite those challenges, Meyer entered the 2026 season healthy and emerged as a centerpiece of the Marlins' rotation.
His performance earned the 27-year-old his first All-Star selection after posting a 9-1 record with a 2.68 ERA through his first 20 starts.
For a pitcher who has already overcome Tommy John surgery, shoulder trouble and a hip injury, Meyer's latest setback represents another challenge.
With the Marlins supporting his recovery and McCullough optimistic about his return, Miami remains hopeful its All-Star right-hander will be back on the mound and continue building on his breakout season.

The Marlins are 52-51 and sit two games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks for the final National League Wild Card spot.
