The Denver Nuggets haven't made major changes to the roster this offseason, but they have brought in two players that they are hoping will strengthen their bench and overall rotation.
The team signed Marvin Bagley to a one-year, $3.5 million deal and Alpha Diallo to a one-year, $1.3 million deal.
Bagley spent time with the Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks last season, appearing in 60 games and averaging 10.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. He's spent eight seasons in the NBA, playing for five different teams.
Diallo has spent the last few years in the EuroLeague, playing for AS Monaco. He led the EuroLeague in steals in 2026 and was named the best defender in the league as well. He's a three-time LNB Pro A Champion and a French League Cup Champion. He averaged 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 41 games last season. He has never played in the NBA.
The contracts for both players became official on Wednesday.
Bagley immediately slots in as the backup center behind Nikola Jokic. Jonas Valanciunas, who served that role last season, is headed back to Europe, and his deal wasn't fully guaranteed by Denver coming into this season.
Bagley is a well-rounded offensive player who will set screens and roll to the rim. He does have the ability to pop off screens and shot 46% from three last season, albeit on fewer than one attempt per game. He can also attack off the catch.
Defensively he offers length and some rim protection.
Diallo is a bit of a mystery because it's unknown how his game will translate to the NBA after never playing in the league. Being the defender of the year in the EuroLeague is a big accomplishment, but the competition level is different in the NBA.
His three-point shot is also inconsistent, which could hurt his ability to stay on the floor on the offensive end. He shot 31% from three last season, but was at 44% the season prior. If he can prove to be an effective spacer, that will earn him more playing time.
The Nuggets are still waiting to come to an agreement with Peyton Watson , who is a restricted free agent.
After signing Watson, or potentially working out a sign-and-trade agreement, they could have decisions to make on Christian Braun or Cameron Johnson depending on how much money they are willing to spend on the roster.
