To many, this year's Arizona Cardinals will be in contention for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. They don't really have a set quarterback, much of the roster remains a work in progress, and it sure feels like a lot will be on rookie tailback Jeremiyah Love's shoulders. In other words, many think the 2026 version of the team will be absolutely terrible. By direct contrast, no one is necessarily anointing the Green Bay Packers as a bona fide Super Bowl heavyweight, but they do have playoff-caliber expectations.
At the very least, the green and gold are expected to be solid and relevant well into December.
That's what made the news that the seemingly lowly Cardinals dominated the Packers in two-minute drill sessions during a joint practice on Wednesday kind of surprising. Yes, it's a practice setting where the point is to learn, not to garner perfect results on every repetition.
But still, it's notable that the Cardinals had their way with the Packers, in at least one part of practice, in any fashion. Maybe they're not as bad as some think they are? (OK, they're probably still terrible.)
One of the more notable segments of this practice sequence came on a lovely toe-tap touchdown for Marvin Harrison Jr. It's been tough sledding for Harrison Jr. thus far in his NFL career, particularly from a confidence standpoint, given the greatness many thought would come out of him after his days at Ohio State.
Any clip against opposing competition where it actually looks too easy for Harrison is a good sign of how far he's come:

None of this means I expect the Cardinals to be much better than they look on paper. They will almost certainly still be one of the NFL's worst teams this year. This little practice session was just a reminder that, hey, they've got some actual talented professionals playing for them, too. Underestimate a bad team, no matter how bad they are, at your own risk.
The Cardinals will take on the Packers at Lambeau Field this Friday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. It is the preseason finale for both teams before the regular season begins in roughly two weeks.
