Maryland vs Hampton Prediction: How Good Will the Terps Look?
Maryland started out last season 4-0, looking like a team ready to do some damage. One eight-game losing streak later, this is a make-or-break season for head coach Mike Locksley and a program coming off two straight 4-8 campaigns.
Hampton also close last season with a thud, dropping the last six games, but it got off to a great start with a dominant 45-0 win over Virginia Lynchburg.

Why Hampton Will Win
Last week, the Pirates played more like the 2024 version that was solid on both sides of the ball, unlike the 2025 version that couldn't seem to do much of anything consistently right.
The ground attack ripped off yards in chunks, Kalen Woods threw for close to 200 yards with three scores, and the defense stuffed everything Virginia Lynchburg tried to do. As long as the ground attack works and the chains move, this could stay interesting.

Why Maryland Will Win
Maryland's offense should be terrific from the start.
Quarterback Malik Washington has a few new great targets to work with in Na'eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding from Old Dominion and Chris Durr from Wyoming. There's work to do, and the idea of this is to find the groove that was totally lost when the offense fizzled last year.
