Matvei Gridin scores twice against the Leafs and hits the GRIDDY
Matvei Gridin made sure to give hockey fans something to talk about on Monday night, and it wasn't just his goal-scoring ability. The Calgary Flames prospect celebrated his second goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs by breaking out "The Griddy," bringing a little NFL-inspired swagger to the hockey rink.
Gridin has been an intriguing young player to watch, and performances like this are exactly the kind of moments that can help a prospect make a name for himself. Scoring twice against an Original Six franchise is impressive enough, but following it up with a celebration that immediately grabs everyone's attention? That's how you get people talking.

For those unfamiliar, The Griddy is a dance celebration popularized in football, most famously by NFL wide receiver Justin Jefferson. The dance has since crossed over into other sports, becoming a recognizable way for athletes to show off a little personality after making a big play.
Gridin clearly wasn't afraid to have some fun after finding the back of the net for the second time against Toronto. While goal celebrations are nothing new in hockey, seeing a young player bring that kind of personality to the ice is always entertaining.
Of course, the most important takeaway for Flames fans is the two-goal performance itself. Gridin's offensive instincts and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities are what matter most as he continues to develop his game.
Still, there's no denying that the celebration added an extra layer of entertainment to his big night. Gridin found the back of the net twice, made a statement against the Maple Leafs, and gave hockey fans a Griddy to remember. If he keeps producing offensively, Calgary supporters might have plenty more opportunities to see that celebration in the future.
