The New York Mets will play the Chicago Cubs on Friday. Before the game, manager Carlos Mendoza shared the latest injury update on infielder Jorge Polanco , via Mike Puma.
“Jorge Polanco is now dealing with right wrist soreness. MRI results are not in yet. Ankle is better today says Carlos Mendoza,” Puma reported on X, formerly Twitter.
Polanco has been dealing with an injury concern for days now . It seems as if he is now battling multiple injuries. New York is currently waiting for his MRI results from his wrist concern. The good news is that his ankle is feeling better according to Mendoza.
Polanco signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Mets during this past offseason. The 32-year-old hit .265 to go along with an .821 OPS a season ago with the Seattle Mariners . He had 26 home runs as well, which was the second highest mark of his career. So far with the Mets, though, he is hitting just .179 through 14 games played.
The MRI results for his wrist should be revealed sooner rather than later. They could ultimately determine whether or not he ends up landing on the injured list.
The Mets will bring their 7-12 overall record into their upcoming contest with the Cubs in Chicago on Friday afternoon. Kodai Senga , who has pitched to an 0-2 record and 7.07 ERA during the 2026 season, will get the start for New York. Edward Cabrera (1-0, 1.62 ERA) is set to start for the Cubs. First pitch is scheduled for 2:20 PM EST at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
