The New York Mets recently cut ties with a former top-100 prospect, an infielder who has seven Major League seasons under his belt.
He last played in the Majors in 2023 with the Boston Red Sox , the final year of his four seasons with the AL East club.
According to the MiLB transactions log , the Mets have released second baseman Christian Arroyo .
Arroyo , who can also shift to shortstop and third base, first joined the Mets last offseason and re-signed in June after his first release.
In 261 plate appearances at Triple-A Syracuse, the 31-year-old hit .279/.331/.435, solid numbers despite some injury trouble.
The best season of Arroyo's big league career was in 2021, when he became a regular in Boston's infield and hit six home runs with a .769 OPS.
