The New York Mets have been struggling as of late, recently losing two out of three games in their road series against the Seattle Mariners . The Mets currently sit at 27-35 on the 2026 MLB season, well below the playoff line in the NL East.
The Mets have played the majority of this season without star shortstop Francisco Lindor , who has been out of the lineup since April 22 with a hamstring strain. However, he recently was able to make a high-profile appearance in an ad for Steven Spielberg's upcoming movie "Disclosure Day."

The movie is slated to hit theaters next week, and Lindor was able to show off some of his acting chops in the ad.
The Mets are hoping to see Lindor back out on the diamond in a non-fictional context sooner rather than later, as the team has struggled mightily in his absence. Free agent signee Bo Bichette , whom the Mets pried away from the reigning AL champion Toronto Blue Jays , has started to round into form in recent weeks, but has still overall been a massive disappointment thus far in New York.
Meanwhile, Juan Soto has been playing solid baseball, but has also struggled to stay on the field at times as he has dealt with various ailments.
The struggles have had some fans wondering if the Mets might be sellers as opposed to buyers at the upcoming MLB trade deadline, which is still about two months away.
However, the Mets will likely want to see what they look like with Lindor back in the lineup before they make any drastic decisions on that front.
