Mets' Kodai Senga and Mark Vientos trade rumors will be music to fans ears originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The New York Mets enter this offseason with a lot of needs on both sides of the baseball, something David Stearns and Steve Cohen are going to have to figure out.
To land the players they want, they'll have to move on from others. The Mets have a decent farm system, but it's still unclear who they want to move on from right now.
Realistically, if the Mets want to get very creative, they could probably land most players around baseball who become available.
As for some of the big-league talent they could move on from during the offseason, the Mets also have other routes, even if their value isn't at the level some hope for. According to the latest from SNY, two guys in particular who could be dealt are Kodai Senga and Mark Vientos.
When Vientos came up, there was a lot of hope that he would be one of the better young players in baseball. He proved to be that in his rookie season but has struggled since. As for Senga, he's shown some promising signs, but he's largely been disappointing.
"As far as who the Mets could deal in a search for impact talent, it's conceivable that they would be open to parting with one of their infield prospects -- given their depth in that area.
"New York also has a few trade candidates of its own, potentially including Kodai Senga and Mark Vientos," Danny Abriano wrote .
It's very difficult to get a feel for what the Mets might look like on both sides of the baseball next year because of how many new faces there should be.
If the Mets can move on from guys like Senga, Vientos, and a few others while adding veteran and young talent, they should be in a position to compete if these young guys keep doing what they did for much of this past season.
