The wide receiver position has been a significant question mark for the Miami Dolphins .
They could add more depth to the position at the start of training camp.
Miami is working out wide receiver Elijhah Badger , according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson. The team is in the midst of a major reset after releasing Tyreek Hill and trading Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos .
This year, the Dolphins will feature a revamped and unproven receiving corps , with Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell projected to be the three starting receivers. Rookies Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman Jr. will also compete for playing time as Malik Willis enters his first year as Miami's starting quarterback.
Badger fits Miami's need for depth
Badger, 24, most recently played for the Orlando Storm of the United Football League. Before that, he began his college career at Arizona State, where he caught 142 passes for 1,640 yards and 10 touchdowns over four seasons. He transferred to Florida for his senior season in 2024 and recorded 39 receptions for 806 yards and four touchdowns.
After going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft , Badger signed with the Kansas City Chiefs but was waived during final roster cuts. He then headed to the UFL, where he finished the 2026 season with 36 catches for 588 yards and five touchdowns for the Storm.
With the Dolphins lacking a proven No. 1 receiver , it makes sense that they would consider adding a player like Badger. At 6-foot-1 and 192 pounds, he is a possession receiver who can make defenders miss after the catch. Badger has also shown the ability to break tackles and possesses reliable hands.
However, he lacks elite speed, which limits his ability to create separation from defenders. Miami, though, already has players like Tolbert, Atwell and Coleman who can stretch the field with their explosiveness. If he signs with the Dolphins, Badger could carve out a role as a reliable third-down target.
At worst, Badger could compete for a spot on the practice squad.
