The Miami Dolphins now have an intriguing decision to make on one of their reserve players - after waiving him earlier this week.
The Miami Dolphins
' tight end room is filled with a whole bunch of rookies. Veteran Greg Dulcich
is the primary player but he's joined by a trio of rookies on Miami
's 53-man roster. Will Kacmarek, Seydou Traore, and recently claimed Justin Joly possess the other four spots. Sprinkle in a rookie fullback in DJ Herman? Miami's got the youngest collection of "formation adjusters" in the league.
But there's another veteran in the room who Miami exposed to waivers earlier this week amid the roster churn. And the franchise now faces a fascinating decision around him - especially given how they've been moving with the rest of their injured reserve list this summer.

Veteran tight end Ben Sims
was among the casualties at the beginning of the week. He was waived with an 'injured' designation. After clearing waivers, Sims reverted back to the Miami Dolphins' injured reserve list for the start of the season. Had another team have claimed Sims, he's simply be on their roster. Instead, he's back in Miami.
And I, for one, am particularly interested to see what the Dolphins end up deciding to do with Sims.
The veteran has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract. And the Dolphins have not clung to many on their injured reserve list. GM Jon-Eric Sullivan has been landing injury settlements to cut them loose. The idea is simple. Settle for a partial salary to save money instead of carrying those players on Injured Reserve all year. They've done it with Mason Reiger, James Ester, Jamaree Salyer
, and they've just done the same with OT Carter Warren
this week, too.
Will Sims be next? Or will he be deemed a viable contributor and valuable presence in this young tight end room - even if he can't suit up and play? If he's deemed to be the latter, he'll be an exception to how Miami has handled their business this offseason.
