- Michael Siani Claimed Off Waivers by NL East Squad
The Baltimore Orioles claimed outfielder Michael Siani , who the Los Angeles Dodgers designated for assignment upon acquiring Alek Thomas last week.
The Orioles optioned him to Triple-A immediately after claiming him, and designated right-hander Jose Espada for assignment.
Siani joined the Dodgers during the offseason, when they claimed him off waivers from the Atlanta Braves . The Dodgers were Siani's third team of the offseason, as both the St. Louis Cardinals and Braves had him beforehand.
Before spring training even started, though, the Dodgers designated him for assignment to make room for right fielder Kyle Tucker after LA signed him to a four-year, $240 million contract. The New York Yankees claimed him off waivers , but DFA'd him once again within a week.

LA picked him up again at the beginning of February, and he stuck with the team through spring training, where he had a .493 OPS through 16 games.
He began the year in Triple-A, and played most of his games in center field—though featured in left field during seven contests. He had a .225/.355/.303 slash line during his 29 games with the Comets, driving in 10 runs and hitting six extra base hits—none of which went over the fence.
Prior to his time with the Dodgers, Siani had only played for two MLB teams: The Cincinnati Reds and the Cardinals.
His MLB career began with the Reds in 2022, when he played nine games with extremely low offensive production. He began the following season with the Reds, though the Cardinals claimed him off waivers midway through the season. He stepped up to the plate six times that season, and only reached base once.

Siani got far more game time in 2024, when he operated as a key piece of the Cardinals' outfield. He played 124 games that year, hitting two home runs and driving in 20 RBIs. His real value came on defense, though, as he recorded 16 outs above average, which ranked in the 99th percentile of MLB. He also had a plus-13 defensive run value, with placed in the top 5% of the league.
He fell back out of favor in 2025, though, and played just 19 games before sticking out most of the season in the minors.
