After a sensational stint at Michigan, Aday Mara is trying his luck in next month’s NBA Draft . He helped the Wolverines win the national title with his size, length, and talent.
While he is still quite raw for the NBA, his upside could be too much to pass up on. Mock drafts have Mara pegged as a mid-to-late first-round pick.
Just by his measurements alone , the 21-year-old center from Spain would have teams salivating, as noted by ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.
“Potential lottery pick Aday Mara recorded a 9’9” standing reach today at the NBA Draft Combine. This is the second-highest standing reach in combine history, trailing just Tacko Fall at 10’0.25” standing reach. Mara measured at 7’3” barefoot with a 7’6” wingspan,” reported Siegel on X.
As they say, you cannot teach height.
The 7-foot-6 Fall went undrafted out of UCF in 2019. He had brief stints with the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers . He is now playing in China.
In his one year at Michigan, Mara averaged career-highs of 12.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.6 blocks, as he earned the starting spot for coach Dusty May.
Mara, who received a major endorsement from a renowned coach , played as a backup in his two years at UCLA.
Siegel added that the Wolverines could have three guys drafted in the first round.
“I’ve been very impressed with the Michigan guys. Yaxel Lendeborg , Aday Mara, and Morez Johnson Jr. may all end up being top 20 picks. All three are also drawing early interest from lottery teams,” wrote Siegel.
Lendeborg is deemed a top-10 prospect, while Johnson could be a sleeper in the second round.
