Michigan State basketball will informally kick off a much-heralded season with an exhibition game against Incarnate Ward on Friday night. While it's not a serious injury, the Spartans will be without a key player. Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported MSU power forward Cam Ward will miss the contest as he recovers from a sprained ankle .
It's a bit of a disappointment. The talented sophomore is in line for a big year with a great shot to seize control of the starting power forward position. This being only an exhibition, it's not the end of the world and will give players such as Jesse McCulloch an opportunity to showcase their skills.
