Michigan State star to potentially headline in NHL blockbuster trade

The NHL trade deadline is at 3 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon, and teams across the league are looking to shore up their roster for potential playoff pushes, or retooling for the upcoming seasons. While teams make their moves, prospects are at the center of discussions, and one MSU player is surrounding a certain team's discussions.

Charlie Stramel , a 2023 first round pick by the Minnesota Wild , is having a breakout season with Michigan State in 2025-26. The veteran Spartan forward has shown that he has a career ahead of him at the next level.

With Stramel's play, he is becoming a hot commodity amongst the prospect ranks, which has him mentioned at the center of an NHL blockbuster.

ESPN's Emily Kaplan reported that a potential trade that could send Vincent Trocheck to Minnesota could have Stramel as the headlining piece heading to New York in return.

"There has been plenty of interest from teams other than Minnesota, whose trade offer I believe centers around prospect Charlie Stramel and a 2027 first-round pick as well as another player or prospect."
