Texas A&M football head coach Mike Elko had some not-so-kind words to a certain portion of Aggie fans after the blowout loss to the Missouri Tigers .
When asked about his message to Aggieland following the disappointing performance in CoMo , Elko said he isn't concerned about "Billy's cesspool," referring to TexAgs executive editor and co-owner Billy Liucci, who produces a plethora of Texas A&M content daily. Liucci's dedication to covering the Aggies, through good times and bad, has garnered a strong relationship and reputation with the athletic programs and the Texas A&M fan base.
While Elko's fiery comments were likely meant as a shot at social media trolls, they certainly didn't come off that way. In fact, the comments on the TexAgs post about the quote showed how frustrated and disappointed fans are with the program's status this season and how Elko has responded to criticism.
Here is the full quote from Elko regarding his message to the fan base and his thoughts on where Texas A&M goes from here:
Let's get down to the facts: Texas A&M has put up fewer than 200 yards of total offense in two of its last three games, a historic mark not touched in over a decade. The Aggies also haven't scored a touchdown against a ranked opponent since last year's Lone Star Showdown.
Offensive statistics and the lackluster performances so far this season are why Elko is being asked the "hard" questions. With junior quarterback Marcel Reed's continuous inconsistencies and the offense's inability to score points and capitalize on the defense's shining moments, adjustments are no longer a suggestion. That is what will be required for this boat to be turned back in the right direction, or Texas A&M may not even make a bowl game in 2026.
