On Sunday evening, as mandated by the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings cut their roster down to 53 players. And while everyone else is focused on their crowded quarterback room , the front office has moved on to other business.
Now that forty players have been cut from 30 different rosters, there's plenty to do, as teams across the league filter through waivers for possible diamonds in the rough.
New additions to MN Vikings roster
The Vikings are no different. In fact, after placing Michael Jurgens on IR over the weekend, must've been busy placing claims on recently available offensive linemen. Because Monday afternoon, they were awarded two new trench soldiers, in (G) Trevor Keegan and (C) Nick Samac , who were recently waived by the Cowboys and Panthers , respectively.

Minnesota has pretty successfully turned over the offensive line, in recent seasons. Up front, the group is probably as good as it has been since the days of Adrian Peterson . Depth has yet again become a concern, however.
The Philadelphia Eagles used a 5th round pick on Trevor Keegan in the 2024 NFL Draft. He played in just one game with the Eagles , as a rookie, then found his way into a pair of games last year with NFC East rival, the Dallas Cowboys.
Samac, meanwhile, is a former seventh round pick (2024) of the Baltimore Ravens . He didn't find the field as a rookie, but appeared in 11 games last season for the Carolina Panthers. All 46 of his snaps came on special teams.

Minnesota has serious question marks at center. Even the starter, Blake Brandel , has less than one year of experience at the position, which makes his early snapping issues to Kyler Murray semi-concerning.

At guard, the MN Vikings have turned the position over to Will Fries and Donovan Jackson . Joe Huber is the only alternative on that front. These claims should add more depth on the interior, where the Vikings probably need it most.

The Vikings waived both Max Brosmer and Dillon Bell in order to clear space on the active roster. The former drops the QB room down to three players, while the latter is now subject to waivers that Minnesota sought to avoid exposing him to a day ago.. They kick off their 2026 regular season on September 13 with an immediate rivalry game against the Green Bay Packers .
