Missouri State reveals royalties from EA Sports College Football 26

EA Sports' "it's in the game" slogan is well known amongst gamers young and old. For Missouri State, money is in the game, specifically deriving from EA Sports College Football 26.

It was reported last year that schools would receive royalties based on how many times gamers chose to play as their program, and Missouri State has given us a glimpse of just how lucrative that agreement is.

Missouri State received more than $100,000 in royalties thanks to gamers choosing to play as their Bears.

“It’s all based off how much the public played as Missouri State,” Kelsey Tolbert said in a Missouri State Board of Governors meeting. Tolbert is Missouri State's associate director of athletics for external relations. "We got our numbers back a couple weeks ago, and we ranked 69th out of 136 schools and second among Conference USA peers. It ultimately equated to over $100,000 back to us in royalty payments.”

If the 69th-ranked program in College Football 26 usage received over $100,000, it's going to be fascinating to see how much money schools in the top 25 in game usage made out if that information is released to the public.
