The Vegas Golden Knights are on the brink of the second round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Vegas has the Utah Mammoth of the ropes, and they got a massive boost on Friday night. Golden Knights star Mitch Marner announced his arrival in a big way on the game’s biggest stage.

Marner scored in the second period to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. This was a notable goal, as well. It was his first career playoff goal with Vegas after signing an eight-year contract last summer. Marner went on to score another goal, giving Vegas a 4-1 lead in the third period.

Marner’s goals were enough to sink the Mammoth . Utah was eliminated by the Golden Knights in Game 6 on Friday night. Vegas added an empty net goal after Marner’s second of the game to claim a 5-1 victory away from home.

The Golden Knights are on to the second round for the second season in a row. This year, they will face Cutter Gauthier and the Anaheim Ducks . Anaheim is coming off an impressive series victory over Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers .

The Mammoth certainly have a lot to be proud of. Utah won Games 2 and 3 to take the series lead over Vegas. Unfortunately, they allowed 15 goals in the final three games of the series, and are headed home as a result.

Marner signed an eight-year contract with the Golden Knights this past summer. He is hoping to win his first career Stanley Cup after failing time and time again with the Toronto Maple Leafs . With this win, he is now one step closer to achieving that goal.
