The Toronto Blue Jays are riding a disappointing season following a World Series berth just a year ago.
The team currently sits in fourth place of the American League East division at a 70-71 record while somehow only being half a game back of a Wild Card spot.

While this is not the season the team expected they are still pushing for the postseason.
The organization struck gold this offseason by signing right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million contract.
The 30-year-old has finally reached the full ace potential he was thought to have.
The American League All-Star starting pitcher had a historic strikeout streak broken on Wednesday night.
Prior to his start on the 2nd, Cease recorded seven or more strikeouts in 19 consecutive games, the most since Randy Johnson in 2001 (20).

Cease's streak mirrors his incredible first season for the Blue Jays.
Through 26 starts this season, Cease is pitching to a 2.25 ERA with 221 strikeouts, 65 walks and a 1.04 WHIP in 156 1/3 innings. He is currently the front-runner for the American League Cy Young award.
If the Blue Jays are able to push their way into a Wild Card spot, it will be no doubt who takes the ball in game one.
