MLB Fans Sending Support To Kris Bryant Amid Injury Diagnosis

It's fair to say we won't be seeing Colorado Rockies star Kris Bryant on the field for Opening Day.

Bryant, a former MVP and four-time All-Star, has only appeared in 170 games since signing a seven-year, $182 million contract with the Rockies in March 2022. Unfortunately, he'll miss even more time due to chronic lumbar degenerative disk disease.

While at Rockies camp on Tuesday afternoon, Bryant spoke to the media about his condition. He sadly revealed that he's been "waking up in pain every day."

“Usually in the progression you start with the exercises, then you move to running,” Bryant said. “Any time my feet hit the ground, I just feel like I could probably fall over.”

After hearing these comments from Bryant, countless fans sent their support online.

"Waking up to pain everyday? This breaks my heart in so many ways," one fan wrote on X.

"I feel for bro. You can tell he's exhausted," a second fan commented.

"Kris is trying everything in his power to get back to playing, but is literally dealing with chronic pain DAILY. Normal daily tasks are painful, poor dude can't even enjoy day to day life and people are thinking he's choosing for this to happen," another fan said.

Will Kris Bryant retire?

As of this week, Bryant isn't ready to think about walking away from the MLB .

“I honestly try not to let myself get there, because when you’re going through it every single day, you just try to make it day to day,” Bryant said, via MLB.com . “A lot of people out there with chronic pain, you don’t want to think so far in the future because you’re just trying to get through the day. So I haven’t let myself get there.”

Of course, Bryant's stance on retirement could change if he doesn't make a full recovery.

Bryant, 34, has a career .273 batting average with 184 homers and 548 RBIs. If he's unable to return to the Rockies this season, that could end up being the end of his great run on the diamond.
