There's something rather embarrassing about being the No. 30 team in the latest MLB Power Rankings. It's not that the Colorado Rockies want to be there, but it's that their season so far just hasn't produced many victories.
Entering Monday night's game at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., against the Los Angeles Angel s, the Rockies were at 22-38. They are tied with the Detroit Tigers for the worst records in all of the MLB.

But the MLB Power Rankings have the Tigers at No. 27, followed by the Angels and the San Francisco Giants .
What are the thoughts right now surrounding the Rockies. Will Leitch of MLB.com offered some comments about the team. He pointed out Ezequiel Tovar 's troubles as well.
Ezequiel Tovar Gets Some Attention
"It wasn't long ago that Ezequiel Tovar was considered a future star for the Rockies, but he has been struggling mightily this year, to the point that he was under the Mendoza line just a couple of weeks ago," Leitch wrote.
"Which is why his walk-off homer on Friday night meant so much to him, as we all clearly saw from his raucous celebration," Leitch continued.

"'I'm not a robot,' Tovar said through an interpreter. 'It's going to eat at me sometimes when I'm not executing the way I want. It's going to hurt me a little. But I understand that no matter what happens, I've got to trust in God that things are going to come.'"
In the previous week's MLB Power Rankings, the Rockies were at No. 29.
Who are the top two teams in the power rankings right now? It's no surprise that the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers are Nos. 1 and 2.
If Colorado is going rise from the ashes, much like the Phoenix, and become a power player in the National League West Division, then some things have to happen. The Rockies need steadier starting pitching and a lineup that keeps on putting up a bunch of runs.

Improvements Are Needed All Around
Additionally, the team defense needs to be on an upswing going forward. Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer keeps trying to put the best lineup card on the field. Schaeffer can't hit or field for his players, nor can he pitch on the mound.
Whoever he puts out there has to show up and suit up for that day's ballgame. It has to be a collective effort. Of course, the Rockies have revamped their front office personnel. That move hasn't directly parlayed into a better record this season.
But the reorganization there is not bad news. The franchise wants to be better, wants to compete, and wants to find itself back into the playoff contention conversation.

Can it happen this season? Only if the Rockies step on the gas and put together solid records in June and July. Then, they'll have to slog through the dog days of summer in August.
So, Colorado has its work cut out for it. Rockies fans will watch to see how their favorite MLB club puts things together. The Rockies want to be better. They will have to focus on their future.
