MLB rumors: Will Brewers use top-ranked farm system to team up Tarik Skubal with Jacob Misiorowski? appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The Milwaukee Brewers have won the NL Central the last three seasons, but they have failed to advance to a World Series in that time. Perhaps a trade for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal would put Milwaukee over the hump.
However, Skubal is set to be a free agent after the season and will draw a hefty contract extension. While the Brewers have the farm system to get a deal done, a trade for Skubal doesn't necessarily fit their organizational philosophy , via Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic.
"Splurging for a rental is not the Brewers' style, but they have the system to put together a terrifying trio of Skubal, Jacob Misiorowski and Kyle Harrison ," Rosenthal wrote.
The Brewers already have an early Cy Young contender in Jacob Misiorowski . He holds a 1.65 ERA and a league-leading 108 strikeouts compared to 19 walks. Furthermore, Kyle Harrison has been a revelation for Milwaukee. Through his first 10 starts in 2026, the left-hander has put up a 1.57 ERA and a 61/14 K/BB ratio.
Adding Skubal to the mix would give the Brewers arguably the scariest pitching trio in all of MLB. The reigning Cy Young winner is still working his way back from an elbow injury. However, in his seven starts prior to the injury, Skubal held a 2.70 ERA and a 45/6 K/BB ratio.
Perhaps the Brewers decide to go all-in and stack their pitching rotation with talent. They're one of the few teams that could offer a king's ransom in a deal. But questions would then arise about Milwaukee's ability to keep him long-term. Which could shut down any trade discussion before it even begins.
