MLB second base power rankings entering week 7
The 2026 MLB season is through six weeks. This is the time when players break out of early-season slumps. Certain players are continuing their outstanding production. This is what sets baseball apart from every other sport. Entering week seven, here are the top 10 second basemen rankings.

1. Ozzie Albies , Atlanta Braves
After struggling with injuries in recent years, Albies seems to be over the hump. He’s off to one of the best starts of his career. The Atlanta second baseman is off to one of the best starts in his nine seasons, leading MLB second basemen in OPS.
2. Nico Hoerner , Chicago Cubs
Entering the week, Hoerner has come up in the clutch for Chicago. He’s been on a tear following the six-year extension he signed at the end of March. The Cubs’ second baseman is in the top four, among MLB second basemen, in batting average, OBP, and slugging percentage.
3. Xavier Edwards , Miami Marlins
Edwards is producing like an All-Star. He’s been consistent since the first game of the season. Entering the week, he leads Miami in hits, batting average, and OBP.
4. Brandon Lowe , Pittsburgh Pirates
Lowe has cooled off, but enters the week with the most home runs among MLB second basemen. He’s healthy, and this bodes well for Pittsburgh. The Pirates are off to a great start to the season and can stay in playoff contention with a healthy Brandon Lowe.
5. Brice Turang , Milwaukee Brewers
Turang is carrying over the momentum from last season’s production. He is once again doing it with power and his legs. Entering the week, he leads the Brewers in RBI and stolen bases.
6. Ernie Clement , Toronto Blue Jays
A platoon player for most of his career, Ernie Clement never played over 69 games prior to 2024. He entered 2026 with back-to-back seasons averaging 148 games played. He’s earned the right to be Toronto’s starting second baseman. The slightest regression won’t prevent Clement from having his best season.
7. Jose Altuve , Houston Astros
Hitting atop Houston’s lineup for most of his career, Jose Altuve continues to produce. His batting average has dipped over the past few seasons, but he continues to get on base. Jose Altuve can reach 3,000 career hits in the next three seasons.
8. Jeremiah Jackson , Baltimore Orioles
Jeremiah Jackson has been the main beneficiary of Jackson Holliday ’s absence from the start of the season. The second-year player has made the most of the opportunity and tied his career high home run total. He’s cooled off a bit, but can bounce back quickly.
9. Jazz Chisholm Jr. , New York Yankees
The veteran is starting to lock in. He’s close to finding his stroke from last season. Another big year is in store for the Yankees’ second baseman.
10. Ketel Marte , Arizona Diamondbacks
The veteran is digging himself out of an early-season slump. He’s seeing more pitches during at-bats. It’s only a matter of time before he starts climbing up the second base rankings.
