MLB shortstop power rankings in week 2
The first week of the 2026 MLB season is in the books. The start of the season had many players get off to hot starts. There will be regression as production will not be sustainable. However, it is important for players to kick off the season on a positive note. Heading into Week 2, here are the top 10 shortstops power rankings in MLB.

1. Zach Neto , Los Angeles Angels
Neto has put together back-to-back productive seasons. He’s a key piece to the Angels’ future. Last week, Neto had two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
2. Corey Seager , Texas Rangers
The veteran’s home run total declined after averaging 20+ home runs from 2022 to 2024. He continues to get on base at a high rate. In week one, Seager hit one home run and drove in two runs.
3. Colson Montgomery , Chicago White Sox
Last year, Montgomery received his call to the Majors and played 71 games. He reached 21 home runs and 55 RBI. The White Sox’s young star finished last week with one home run, five RBI, and a 1.017 OPS.
4. Geraldo Perdomo , Arizona Diamondbacks
Perdomo had a breakout season in 2025. He reached 20 home runs, 100 RBI, and 27 stolen bases. He’s off to a quick start in 2026, with one home run, two RBI, and one stolen base.
5. Mookie Betts , Los Angeles Dodgers
Betts’ average, on-base percentage, and slugging took a hit last season. Still, he finished with 20 home runs and 82 RBI. In week one, Mookie Betts had one home run and four RBI.

6. Elly De La Cruz , Cincinnati Reds
De La Cruz is a blossoming superstar. He can hit for power, steal bases, and has an outstanding arm. Strikeouts are a concern through his first two seasons. In week one, De La Cruz hit his first home run of the season.
7. Ezequiel Tovar , Colorado Rockies
After the monster 2024 season, Tovar was limited to 95 games due to injury. When healthy, Tovar can produce great numbers playing in Colorado. Starting off 2026 quickly, the shortstop had one home run and two RBI in week one.
8. Trevor Story , Boston Red Sox
Healthy for the first time since 2021, Story had a monster 2025 campaign. He reached 25 home runs, 96 RBI, and 31 stolen bases. Last week, Story had one home run and two RBI.
9. Andres Gimenez , Toronto Blue Jays
Gimenez struggled in his first season with Toronto. His numbers were down across the board. In week one, Gimenez had four RBI, one stolen base, and a 1.311 OPS.
10. Joey Ortiz , Milwaukee Brewers
Ortiz enters 2026 following a slight regression in 2025. He’s a productive player and will play a pivotal role as Milwaukee chases another postseason appearance. The Milwaukee shortstop ended week one with three RBI, two stolen bases, and a .955 OPS.
