Charlie Cerrato at 2026 NHLPA Rookie Showcase
The 2026 NHLPA Rookie Showcase is underway at the Blackhawks Ice Center in Chicago , Illinois, and Charlie Cerrato is the young gun to represent the Hurricanes this year – following Alexander Nikishin who represented them in 2025 at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia.
The Rookie Showcase, which will run for three days, is an annual event utilized by the NHLPA – essentially a large-scale photo shoot to gather various assets for promotional purposes.
Interestingly, it appeared that Charlie Cerrato was wearing either the number 45 or 43 in his Hurricanes uniform. During his playoff appearance for the Chicago Wolves in the recent postseason, he wore number 13.
The last time a Hurricanes player wore 45 was Sami Vatanen in 2020, while 43 was Eetu Luostarinen in 2020, and 13 was Jesse Puljujarvi in 2023.
Foote Out the Door
Tuesday, defenseman Cal Foote – who spent last season with the Chicago Wolves – departed the AHL and North American Hockey for a contract with the SHL's Farjestad BK, which is based in Karlstad, Sweden.
Having signed with the Wolves came on December 1st, 2025 – the first day he was eligible to play following his acquittal in the Hockey Canada sexual assault scandal – he played 48 games in the regular season and all 21 in the postseason.
