Najai Hines stays in Big East, transfers to UConn

UConn head coach Dan Hurley recently spoke about the type of person it takes to work and play under him. Najai Hines figures to check the important boxes, as the big man is headed to UConn by way of the transfer portal.

The Huskies are familiar with Hines' game since he played his freshman season at Seton Hall. Hines grabbed 11 rebounds and swatted three shots the last time the Pirates played UConn in late February, which UConn's staff might've had fresh in their minds.

Hines led the Big East in blocked shots per game last season, averaging just over two rejections a night.

USA TODAY Sports covered the perfect transfer portal fits to date, and Hines made the cut and fits the bill. UConn was looking for a center to replace Tarris Reed Jr., and also add insurance in case Eric Reibe (transfer portal) does not return.
