The NCAA was granted a motion to stay an injunction in a Tennessee eligibility lawsuit that includes college basketball players BJ Edwards, Chendall Weaver, and Jalen Washington . Sam C. Ehrlich obtained the court document from the Tennessee Court of Appeals, and the players listed in the lawsuit are now ineligible.
Along with Edwards, Weaver, and Washington, the plaintiffs named in the lawsuit are Brody Robinson , Jack Browder, Olamide Ajiboye, Daniel Egbuniwe, Cameron Fens, Chendall Weaver, Jason Edwards , Zachary Davis, Tarence Guinyard, A.J. Storr , Carly Keats, Braxton Slacker, B.J. Edwards, Isabel Grimes, Jaylon Johnson, Sam Alexis, N.J. Benson, and Dug McDaniel . One thing to note is that some of the players listed are in double suits, including Washington, who is in a Georgia suit, so he's still eligible in that state.

The ruling comes shortly after the NCAA was granted a motion to stay an injunction in an eligibility lawsuit in Ohio. 15 athletes were part of that lawsuit and were seeking a fifth year of eligibility. The NCAA recently announced a five-year, age-based model, but the rule does not apply for the Class of 2022.
NCAA earns a win in an eligibility lawsuit battle
In early August, Washington, who previously played at North Carolina and Vanderbilt, committed to Tennessee. At the time, Washington was granted a fifth season of eligibility after a judge from Davidson County, Tennessee, awarded him a temporary injunction against the NCAA in his lawsuit.

Following the 2025-26 season, Washington went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft. "Washington is a draft-and-stash or two-way candidate whose upside is almost entirely defined by his defensive potential," his draft profile read. "At his best, Washington's game resembles Onyeka Okongwu , though the latter was a more consistent and offensively polished prospect. If he lands in the right spot, Washington can evolve into a useful backup center on a team that values defensive versatility."
This past season, Washington averaged 8.9 points and 5.6 rebounds in 36 games for Vanderbilt. He spent the three previous seasons at North Carolina and averaged 4.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
