Nebraska guard Sam Hoiberg earns pair of Big Ten honors
Nebraska basketball won a series of player awards and honors on Tuesday. Sam Hoiberg was named honorable-mention All-Big Ten by the coaches and media and was one of five players named to the all-defensive team.
Hoiberg becomes the first Husker to ever make the All-Big Ten defensive team. In 31 games this season, he averages 9.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
Sam Hoiberg was one of several Huskers to win a postseason honor. Fred Hoiberg was named coach of the year by the Big Ten coaches and Braden Frager was named sixth man of the year. Pryce Sandfort was also named first-team All-Big Ten.
Nebraska ended the regular season with a 26-5 record and a 15-5 mark in the Big Ten. The Huskers enter the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed and will play in the quarterfinals on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT.
