Nets Look to Bounce Back Against Kings in Summer League

The Brooklyn Nets continue their NBA Summer League schedule on Tuesday night when they take on the Sacramento Kings at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. ET, with the game available to stream on Prime Video and the Gotham Sports App.

Brooklyn enters the matchup with a 1-1 record in Las Vegas after suffering an 83-76 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night . The Nets had control for much of the game, taking a three-point lead into the fourth quarter, but Atlanta outscored Brooklyn 26-16 in the final period to secure the victory.
Chaney Johnson continued his impressive Summer League run, leading the Nets with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five steals while making an impact on both ends of the floor. Danny Wolf also had his best performance of the summer, finishing with 20 points and five rebounds as he continues to showcase his offensive versatility.
Kobe Johnson provided a major spark off the bench for Atlanta, finishing with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists while hitting several big shots late in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks pull away. Despite the loss, Brooklyn once again saw strong contributions from its young players as the organization continues evaluating its Summer League roster.
One major storyline heading into Tuesday's matchup will be the return of two of Brooklyn's top young prospects. Mikel Brown Jr. and Egor Demin both sat out Saturday's game as the second night of a back-to-back, but both are expected to be available against Sacramento. Their return gives the Nets a boost on both ends of the floor and adds another layer of excitement to a matchup featuring several of the league's top young talents.

The biggest individual matchup to watch will be between Mikel Brown Jr. and Kings guard Darius Acuff Jr., two highly regarded young guards who have generated plenty of excitement among fans. The two were selected back-to-back in last month's NBA Draft, with Brown Jr. going No. 6 overall to Brooklyn and Acuff Jr. being selected No. 7 overall by Sacramento. Brown Jr. did not play when these two teams met during the California Classic last week, but Tuesday's matchup could provide the first opportunity to see the two top lottery picks go head-to-head in Summer League action.
Brooklyn and Sacramento are already familiar with each other after meeting in Sacramento during the California Classic. The Kings escaped with a 79-76 victory after Nique Clifford hit a game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds, spoiling a strong Nets performance. With Brown Jr. expected back in the lineup this time around, Brooklyn will look to even the score against a familiar opponent.
The Kings enter Tuesday's contest with a 1-1 record in Las Vegas after suffering their first Summer League loss of the year, falling 104-85 to the Washington Wizards . Sacramento received a strong debut from 2025 first-round pick Maxime Raynaud , who led the team with 20 points and 12 rebounds, but the Kings struggled to contain Washington's offensive attack. Will Riley led the Wizards with 32 points, while AJ Dybantsa added 23 points in the win.
For Brooklyn, Tuesday's matchup provides another opportunity to evaluate its young core while continuing to build chemistry. The return of Mikel Brown Jr. and Egor Demin should provide additional firepower, while players like Chaney Johnson and Danny Wolf will look to build off their strong performances against Atlanta.

After splitting their first two games in Las Vegas, the Nets will look to bounce back against a Kings team they nearly defeated just one week ago. With several of the NBA's top young prospects on the floor, Tuesday night's matchup should provide another entertaining test for Brooklyn's Summer League roster.
