There has been some buzz out of Tallahassee and Florida State recently, with the NFL Draft approaching. Some of the more recent news surrounds the Seminoles' 2025 QB1, Tommy Castellanos, and how teams are scouting him.
It’s recently been reported that Castellanos is drawing interest from NFL teams as both a quarterback and as a wide receiver. So much so that he participated in wide receiver drills at Florida State’s pro day in addition to QB drills.
Out of high school, he had schools recruit him as a running back, specifically Florida State. He ultimately committed to Central Florida before transferring to Boston College and once again to Florida State.
His elite speed and dual-threat ability are definitely the cause of the interest at wide receiver. Especially with nearly 2,000 rushing yards and 24 rushing touchdowns through his collegiate career. Also, at Florida State’s pro day in late March, he ran an impressive 4.31 40-yard dash.
Other Seminoles in the draft
As far as getting their names called come the NFL Draft, just one player from this year’s roster has consistently had their name pop up on different mock drafts, and that is defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. , who is amongst the top-10 at his position. In the latest USA Today mock draft, he lands at the 70th overall pick to the Cleveland Browns in the third round. Over the last two years, he started all 12 games each season, recording 77 total tackles, seven TFLs, 4.5 sacks, and one FF and PBU.
