The Jacksonville Jaguars got their third win of the 2026 NFL season. They defeated Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, 22-17 , at Paycor Stadium on Sunday. The Jaguars secured a crucial road victory, improving to 3-1.
Trevor Lawrence had a decent game for the Jaguars, completing 18-of-23 passes for 227 yards and one touchdown. Jacksonville also scored a rushing touchdown from Chris Rodriguez Jr., who carried the ball six times for 35 yards.
For the home team, Burrow completed 39-of-54 passes for 428 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. It would have been three interceptions if not for a contentious first-quarter incident.
The Bengals quarterback threw a deep pass on third-and-7 from Cincinnati's 26, targeting wide receiver Tee Higgins. Travis Hunter intercepted the pass and returned it for 30 yards.
However, the turnover was erased after Jaguars defensive tackle Arik Armstead delivered a late hit on Burrow. The play was flagged for a penalty, with Armstead being called for roughing the passer. It resulted in a 15-yard penalty and an automatic first down for the Bengals.
According to Rule 12, Section 2, Article 11 of the 2026 NFL rulebook , roughing the passer is "any physical acts against a player who is in a passing posture (i.e. before, during, or after attempting a pass) which, in the game official's judgment, are unwarranted by the circumstances of the play will be called as fouls."
The NFL will now review the incident to determine whether it will fine Armstead for his actions. According to the NFL's fines schedule , Armstead could face a $17,911 fine for a first offense. The fine goes up to $23,882 for a second offense.
The league will announce its punishment decision in its weekly fines update, typically released on Saturday afternoons.
Burrow and Co. are looking to bounce back after losing two straight games. They will travel to Hard Rock Stadium on Oct. 11 to face the winless Miami Dolphins.
The Jaguars, meanwhile, are looking to make it three straight wins. They will travel to London and face the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 11.
