Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza wrapped up one of the most improbable campaigns in college football history by leading his team to a 27–21 win over the Miami Hurricanes in the CFP National Championship game.
The Hoosiers' first-ever title capped a 16–0 season, earning Mendoza both the Heisman Trophy and CFP Championship MVP, and turning Indiana into the first school to win 16 games since the Yale Bulldogs did it in 1894.
Two days after the victory, "Student-Athlete" Mendoza, per his bio, updated his LinkedIn profile in a routine move for the business major who has consistently used the platform to share career milestones.
This time, Mendoza wrote about winning the national championship with the Hoosiers, crafting a post that included a list featuring three things he learned throughout his run to the title.

"Here's what winning a National Championship taught me about B2B sales 🏆 (kidding…kinda)," Mendoza wrote. "1. Believe in yourself ... 2. Take the risk ... 3. Remember who got you there."
Mendoza, who began his college career as a two-star recruit and the 2,149th-best prospect in the 2022 class, was denied a walk-on spot at Miami.
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner has kept a habit of posting personal updates on LinkedIn and previously used the site to announce his Heisman win, an Adidas NIL deal and academic progress at Cal — where he started his college football career — and Indiana.
On Wednesday evening, however, Mendoza's profile update caught attention beyond the business world and LinkedIn users.
The official NFL Instagram account featured Mendoza's post on its feed, pairing Mendoza's text with a photo of him lifting the CFP trophy. The caption read, "Resume is lookin' pretty good 👌."
Mendoza is widely projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. assigned him to the Las Vegas Raiders with the top pick after listing him atop his big board , pointing to Mendoza's ball placement, decision-making and leadership in pressure moments.
The Hoosiers quarterback will leave the NCAA with 8,247 passing yards and 71 touchdowns (22 interceptions) on 691 completions across three seasons, adding 473 rushing yards on 225 carries for 11 touchdowns.
