At Maryland, it continues to be a family thing.
Maddie Moran, the No. 1 2028 in the country, has chosen the Terps.
It should be no surprise to lacrosse fans. Moran is the daughter of new (and former) Maryland men's assistant coach Ryan Moran, who is a 2003 alum. Her Instagram post announcing her decision showed her as a young girl wearing her dad's jersey and playing on the turf at SECU Stadium with her club team.
It's the second time in two years the No. 1 recruit has chosen the Terps. Cayden Reese, the No. 1 2026, is now on campus and is the daughter of coach Cathy Reese. Cayden Reese was a teammate of Moran's on this year's No. 1 high school team Maryvale (Md.), where her father Brian Reese was the coach and also a Maryland alum.
Moran's commitment is part of a blistering start to the commitment cycle for the Terps. They've already landed a 5-Star midfielder in Luca Diehl (West Forsyth, Ga.), as well as a 4-Star in Carly Aldridge, another Maryvale player.
Moran's impact will be felt all over for the Terps, as she's an all-around player with a relentlessness motor in the middle of the field.
