- No. 13 Campbell tops Maine 35-6 for record seventh win
ORONO, Maine — Kamden Sixkiller threw for a school-record 450 yards and three touchdowns Saturday, leading No. 13 Campbell to a 35-6 victory over Maine and setting a program record for wins in a season.
The Camels improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in Coastal Athletic Association play, earning their fifth consecutive victory and remaining unbeaten against FCS opponents at 7-0.
Campbell surpassed its previous single-season record of six wins, achieved in 2011, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Maine fell to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
Sixkiller completed 29 of 44 passes, throwing three touchdowns and one interception. He connected with 13 different receivers and added a team-high 41 rushing yards on seven carries.
Jyron Waiters led Campbell's receivers with seven catches for 155 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.
Jon Gullette scored twice, catching a 53-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter before adding a rushing touchdown in the third to extend Campbell's lead to 28-6. Gullette finished with two receptions for 59 yards.
Evan Austin added three catches for 50 yards, while Christian Campbell caught four passes for 49 yards.
Defensively, Charles Battaglia led the Camels with 10 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack. AJ Benton recorded nine tackles, assisted on a tackle for loss and broke up a pass.
Ravel Cato added eight tackles, an interception and two pass breakups, while Greg Ransome also intercepted a pass.
Campbell's defense held Maine to just two conversions on 17 third-down attempts and shut out the Black Bears in the fourth quarter for the fifth time in six games.
The six points allowed were Campbell's fewest since a 72-0 shutout of Presbyterian in 2021 and its fewest against a conference opponent since a 34-6 victory over Presbyterian in 2018.
Maine quarterback Caden Drezek completed 21 of 40 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Evan Wallace led the Black Bears with six receptions for 67 yards.
Jeremiah McGill led Maine's defense with 11 tackles.
Campbell travels to UAlbany for a noon kickoff Saturday, Oct. 31, in the first meeting between the programs.
The Camels will play two of their final three regular-season games at home, hosting Stony Brook on Nov. 7 and Monmouth on Nov. 21 at Barker-Lane Stadium.
