Eight targets look nice on paper, but that was a sub-16% share on a night the Saints threw 56 times, and Fant took 8% of the receiving yards. He's 31st among tight ends in PFN's Week 2 rankings for this trip to Baltimore. He was a part of the story in Week 1, and that's great, but it's not predictive.
Should You Start or Sit Noah Fant in Week 2?
Things get wonky when you throw the ball 56 times, and there is no better example of that than Fant.
Sure, the eight targets look nice on paper with zero context, but that's a sub-16% share, and he was at 8% of the receiving yards. I think those rates are higher than he'll have most weeks, but even if you think they are stable as long as Alvin Kamara and Jordyn Tyson are banged up, any dialing back of Tyler Shough's numbers to a reasonable spot is going to land him well outside of the playable tier at the tight end position.

Fant hasn't caught 50 balls in a season since 2022 and has never reached five scores in a season. He was a part of the story in Week 1, and that's great.
It's not predictive.
